BUA Cement Graduates 60 Operators, Offers Automatic Jobs to 52 in Sokoto

BUA Cement PLC has graduated 60 youths trained as heavy-duty machine operators at its Sokoto plant, with 52 of them securing automatic employment. The ceremony highlighted the company's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and youth empowerment in the region.

Most of these trainees can now operate more than two machines. They are fast learners and have shown commitment throughout the training period.

The six-month technical training program equipped the youths with practical skills in operating and maintaining heavy-duty equipment used in cement production and mining. The Plant Director, Engr. Aminu Bashir, who represented the Managing Director and CEO, Muhammad Haliru Binji, noted that the trainees demonstrated commitment and proficiency, with most now capable of operating multiple machines.

Bashir emphasized that the program prioritized indigenes from BUA's host communities in Wamakko and neighboring local government areas. This initiative aligns with the company's human capital development policy and aims to complement the Sokoto State Government's efforts in curbing unemployment.

The Sokoto State Commissioner for Commerce, Haruna Abbas Bashir, commended BUA Cement for the timely and impactful gesture. He stated that the state government's 9-Point Smart Agenda also includes vocational skills programs to foster self-reliance among youth. Partnerships like this, he added, are crucial for driving economic growth and reducing poverty.

Representing the beneficiaries, the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Dundaye, expressed gratitude to BUA Cement for investing in local youth capacity. He assured that the newly employed individuals would justify the company's confidence, bringing a "sigh of relief" to trainees and their families.
