Budai, Chiayi to host 'Summer Party' music festival for Penghu-bound tourists

Budai Township in Chiayi County is set to host a "Summer Party" music festival on June 21, aiming to draw tourists who are traveling between mainland Taiwan and the Penghu islands for the annual Penghu Fireworks Festival. The event, organized by the Cloud, Chiayi, and Tainan National Scenic Area Administration, will feature performances by popular Taiwanese artists including Phat Tofu, Sweet John, Wendy Wander, Huang玠瑋, and The Night Crows.

The festival, themed "Budai Broadcast," will also include a special market showcasing local products and offer accommodation discounts. The goal is to encourage visitors to explore Budai's attractions and experience its coastal charm before or after their trip to Penghu. Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang highlighted the combination of music and sea breeze, inviting people to enjoy a comfortable summer evening in Budai.

To further boost tourism, the administration has partnered with local accommodation providers. Tourists visiting Penghu during the fireworks festival period can receive a 500 NTD discount voucher for the Budai commercial district if they stay at one of five participating guesthouses. Free shuttle services will also be provided within the Budai commercial area.

Attendees who present their Penghu round-trip ferry tickets or related travel proof on the day of the event can redeem market vouchers. Special tour packages are also available, offering additional market vouchers and a chance to win autographed artist posters. Street performers will also be featured on the coastal platform of the Budai High Heels Church on June 14, 20, and 28, adding to the festive atmosphere.
