Budiarsa Sastrawinata Elected New Head of Indonesian Golf Association, Prioritizes Sport Promotion

Budiarsa Sastrawinata has been elected as the new Chairman of the Indonesian Golf Course Owners Association (APLGI) for the 2026-2030 term. His election occurred unanimously during the National Member General Meeting held at Damai Indah Golf in Banten.

Sastrawinata, previously the First Chairman, succeeds M. Tachril Sapi’ie, who led APLGI for two terms from 2018 to 2026. The APLGI, founded in 1995, comprises 58 golf courses across Indonesia. Its mission is to professionally assist members in enhancing golf course development, maintenance, and management, keeping pace with technological advancements. The association also aims to improve service facilities and management, and serve as a platform for sharing experiences and knowledge to solve common challenges faced by member courses.

"We must thank Pak Tachril, who has steered APLGI for eight years. We see many achievements and will continue them. Socializing golf is APLGI's top priority moving forward," Sastrawinata stated. He also emphasized the need to improve the quality of golf itself to enable Indonesia to compete internationally. "The role of golf course owners is significant in helping our athletes improve their game," added Sastrawinata, who is also Director of PT Ciputra Development Tbk and President Director of PT Damai Indah Golf Tbk.

Sastrawinata believes that golf course owners, as enthusiasts of the sport, will readily support its development. He has been actively involved in promoting Indonesian golf, co-founding the Ciputra Golfpreneur Foundation (CGF), which has organized prestigious junior and professional tournaments for decades, including the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship and the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament, part of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) agenda.

The meeting's theme, "New Management - New Spirit," was chosen by outgoing Chairman Tachril Sapi’ie with the hope that the new leadership would bring renewed energy to improve and grow the golf industry. During his tenure, APLGI actively promoted golf across various segments of society, including a major program, the Indonesia Golf Festival.
