Buenos Aires Modern Museum Celebrates 70 Years with Gala Fundraiser

The Museo Moderno in Buenos Aires marked its 70th anniversary with an exclusive gala, bringing together a constellation of artists, curators, gallerists, collectors, and cultural patrons. Held at the museum's San Telmo location, the event, organized by the Asociación Amigos del Moderno, aimed to raise crucial funds for the renovation of the entrance hall to improve accessibility and to bolster the museum's overall programs, including its acquisition initiatives.

Victoria Noorthoorn, the museum's director, emphasized the institution's strength, derived from the "conjunction of two wills: the public in alliance with the private." This sentiment resonated throughout the evening, as prominent figures like Adriana Rosenberg of Fundación Proa and Teresa Bulgheroni of Fundación Malba mingled with collectors such as Andrés Buhar and Esteban Tedesco.

Artists including Marta Minujín and Guillermo Kuitca were present, exchanging greetings with gallerists like Diego Obligado and Nora Fisch. The event also featured recently inaugurated exhibitions, including an anniversary edition of "Moderno y MetaModerno," showcasing the museum's collection. Government officials, such as the Minister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, Gabriela Ricardes, also attended, underscoring the museum's civic importance.

The evening culminated in a dinner for 220 guests, with additional donation opportunities available at each table. The menu featured a sophisticated selection, including caramelized onion tart, braised lamb shank, and a dulce de leche crème brûlée. The celebration underscored the museum's enduring legacy and its ongoing commitment to cultural enrichment through public and private collaboration.
