Nigeria has launched its first Hyperscale AI-ready Data Centres, marking a significant step in digital transformation for Africa. Developed by Kasi Cloud, the LOS1 Data Centre is positioned as the largest in West Africa and is designed to deliver AI-era performance, hyperscale capacity, and intelligent connectivity. This initiative aims to reverse the trend where critical data generated in Nigeria is hosted and processed abroad, a situation that negates the country's sovereignty. The facility will enable cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads, allowing enterprises to operate at a global scale and individuals to access the latest technologies. It is also expected to create digital employment opportunities and improve data connectivity, which is currently provided by existing Tier III data centers. The Kasi LOS1 Data Centre features four floors with eight data halls, capable of housing between 400 and 760 racks per floor, including specialized high-density AI halls. It boasts a 100-megawatt (MW) power capacity, with 32 MW dedicated to the four floors, and is equipped with diverse fiber routes, dual MMRs, and a liquid-cooling system ready for AI workloads. Kasi Cloud's Co-founder and CEO, Johnson Agogbua, highlighted that Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping economic competition, with every industry expected to be transformed by AI in the coming years. He noted that AI workloads are already present in their facility's development center, indicating the immediate relevance of these AI-ready data centers.
