Bull charges into stands at Colombian festival, injuring four and sparking outrage

The incident happened during the traditional Corraleja festival, a local event where a bull is released into an arena and the public taunts it. Cheers of excitement quickly turned to screams of fear as the bull charged into the crowd. Video footage captured the chaos as spectators scrambled to escape, with some even jumping back into the arena to avoid the animal.

One woman was trampled by the bull. The situation temporarily de-escalated when a bystander managed to grab the bull's tail, allowing others to flee. A bullfighter maintained a calm demeanor, using his cape to try and distract the animal.

Four people sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized. Local authorities are investigating the full extent of the injuries. The incident has drawn strong condemnation from officials, with the Interior Minister of Tolima province, Ricardo Suárez, stating, "This is the consequence of the violence that we humans continue to promote. We must move towards new forms of entertainment that truly enrich our culture. This barbarity is neither culture nor bravery. Bullfighting must end in Tolima."
