Bulu Women dedicate win to Takubu

The Bulu Women's Rugby team honored their late teammate and coach, Bridget Takubu, with a heartfelt 38-27 victory in a Super W curtain-raiser match against Yakete. The win, secured just a week after Takubu's burial, was a profound tribute to a key member of the squad.

Captain Torika Sabina expressed that the team played with immense heart and pride, driven by the desire to win in honor of Takubu. She acknowledged the difficulty of losing such a valuable player but emphasized the team's commitment to carrying forward her legacy. The players aspire to make Takubu proud by eventually earning selection to the national XVs team or the Fijian Drua Women's side.

"It’s pretty exciting that we were given a chance to play today before the main ladies took the stage," Sabina said. "While it was a tough match, we really wanted to win it for our late teammate, and now that we have the win, we look forward to starting preparations for the Marama Cup, which will begin soon."

The team, with members hailing from Navosa and playing for a club in Ba, is now focusing on preparations for the upcoming Marama Cup. Their ultimate goal remains to represent Fiji at higher levels, inspired by the memory and spirit of their beloved coach and teammate.
