Burgan signs Angel Hernandez to boost Club World Championship campaign

Kuwait's Burgan Club has bolstered its handball squad with the acquisition of experienced Spanish right-back Angel Hernandez. This strategic signing is part of the club's preparations for a demanding handball season and a significant international campaign.

Hernandez arrives with an impressive resume, having previously played for prominent clubs such as Portugal's Porto, Qatar's Al-Duhail, and Egypt's Al Ahly. He is Burgan's second foreign recruit, joining Japanese player Yasuhiro. The club has also enhanced its local talent pool by signing Abdullah Al-Attiyah from Al-Qadsia and five players from Al-Salmiya.

These additions aim to assemble a formidable team capable of competing across multiple fronts. Burgan is particularly focused on strengthening key positions with seasoned players while retaining the core of the squad that achieved a historic success in the Asian competition. The club's management is committed to building a competitive unit for its most significant challenge to date.

The team's biggest upcoming event is its debut at the IHF Men's Club World Championship, scheduled to take place in Cairo from September 24 to early October. To prepare adequately, Burgan will embark on an overseas training camp in North Macedonia starting August 25 and concluding on September 20. This camp will involve intensive training and several friendly matches designed to elevate the players' physical and technical capabilities before the global tournament.
