Bus driver charged after rollover in Ontario town leaves 17 injured

A bus driver faces charges following a rollover incident in northern Ontario that resulted in 17 passengers being hospitalized. The crash occurred on Highway 17, approximately 25 kilometers north of Wawa, Ontario, shortly before 7 a.m. on a Tuesday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene, where they found a passenger bus lying on its side in a ditch. Emergency crews were dispatched due to reported passenger injuries. Seventeen individuals were transported to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries and have since been discharged.

Following an investigation into the incident, the bus driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. Authorities have not released the driver's name or provided specific details regarding the cause of the crash. The OPP remained at the scene throughout Tuesday as efforts were made to remove the damaged bus.
