Businessman 'El Güino' and 17 others jailed in Torreón after Costco operation

Businessman Ernesto "N," known as "El Güino," and 17 other individuals have been admitted to the Torreón Penitentiary Center to face multiple charges, including violence against security members, threats, bribery, and usurpation of functions. The arrests stemmed from an operation on Friday, August 7, 2026, initiated after emergency calls reported armed men at a Costco store in Torreón.

The coordinated operation involved various law enforcement agencies from Coahuila and Torreón, alongside the Mexican Army, National Guard, and the Special Command of La Laguna. The group, including "El Güino," was detained at the scene.

The Coahuila Attorney General's Office has not yet released specific details regarding any seized weaponry or vehicles, nor has it provided individual legal status updates for the 18 people now in custody. The prosecution stated that further information regarding the operation and the ongoing legal process would be provided in the coming hours.
