Ghanaian boxer Amadu Mohammed is setting his sights on a medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games following a commanding performance in his opening bout. Mohammed secured a swift victory over Kiribati's Temakau Eriu in the men's 55kg bantamweight round-of-16, stopping his opponent inside two minutes.

The young Ghanaian prodigy demonstrated his medal contention credentials by taking control from the opening bell. Expressing his satisfaction with the performance, Mohammed appealed for continued support from Ghanaians, stating, "I am very proud of my performance. This win provides a significant boost for Ghana's boxing contingent, especially after Abdul Wahib Omar's earlier defeat. Amadu Mohammed is now set to compete against England's Ellis Trowbridge in the quarterfinals, with a place in the medal zone of the competition at stake.
