Caitlin Clark-Paige Bueckers rivalry headlines WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago

Chicago is set to host the 30th WNBA All-Star Game, an event poised to highlight the burgeoning popularity of the league, largely driven by the rivalry between generational talents Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. The festivities will unfold across two iconic Chicago venues, beginning Friday at the Wintrust Arena, home of the Chicago Sky, and culminating Saturday at the United Center, the larger home of the Chicago Bulls.

Fans will have the opportunity to see Clark, the Indiana Fever's star and the first overall pick in the 2024 draft, and Bueckers, the number one pick in 2025 and last year's Rookie of the Year with the Dallas Wings. This year's All-Star teams have been curated by two honorary general managers, WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon, departing from the traditional player-captain format.

Cooper, a legend of the Houston Comets, has assembled a team emphasizing outside shooting, featuring Bueckers, along with interior powerhouses A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart. Weatherspoon, an icon of the New York Liberty and 90s FIBA basketball, has built her team around Caitlin Clark as the primary playmaker, supported by Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, forming a strong core from the Indiana Fever.

The event also includes a three-point contest on Friday, featuring notable sharpshooters like Rhyne Howard, Marina Mabrey, Azzi Fudd, Bridget Carleton, Natisha Hiedeman, and Janelle Salaün. The contest maintains its classic format but incorporates modern elements like 'from the logo' long-distance shots. Additionally, Angel Reese, a former Chicago Stars player now with Atlanta, will participate, adding another layer of local rivalry to the star-studded event.
