Calgary man charged after 2 people shot at downtown CTrain station

Calgary police have charged a 25-year-old man with seven firearms-related offenses following a shooting at the Victoria Park/Stampede CTrain station on Saturday evening. The incident left two men with gunshot wounds, prompting a swift police response.

Officers arrived at the station around 8 p.m. to find two victims, one on the platform and another near the BMO Centre. Both were transported to hospital, initially listed in critical and stable conditions respectively. Authorities later confirmed both individuals had been upgraded to stable condition.

Investigators suggest the violence stemmed from an argument that began on a CTrain. The dispute reportedly continued after the passengers disembarked at the station, culminating in one individual producing a pistol and firing at the other two before fleeing the scene. However, the suspect was apprehended by police in the vicinity shortly after.

The accused faces charges including two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent, and multiple weapons possession offenses. He remains in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
