Calgary police charge 8 in organized crime probe involving drugs, guns

An extensive 11-month investigation by Calgary police targeting organized crime has culminated in nearly 60 charges against eight individuals, uncovering a sophisticated network involved in drug trafficking, firearms offenses, vehicle re-vinning, and prescription fraud.

The investigation, initiated in September 2025, initially focused on a man suspected of drug trafficking in Calgary. The Calgary Police Service's Organized Crime Enforcement Team subsequently identified a broader network engaged in various illicit activities. During the operation, officers executed 15 search warrants and obtained 74 judicial authorizations, seizing a substantial array of evidence, including digital devices and physical items.

Search warrants executed on December 17, 2025, at residences in Delacour and Chestermere, Alberta, and a related Jeep, yielded $7,690 in cash, a cash counter, forged prescription documents, prescription medication, and a radio-frequency jammer. Earlier, in March 2026, a 28-year-old man from Chestermere and a 40-year-old woman from Delacour were arrested and charged with offenses related to possession of proceeds of crime and uttering forged documents. Both have since been released pending their next court appearances.

Further searches on March 9, 2026, at a Calgary residence and apartment, along with three vehicles, led to the seizure of a loaded handgun, 137 rounds of ammunition, $15,410 in cash, significant quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine (160.2 grams and 115.1 grams respectively), 23 OxyContin pills, packaging materials, buffing agent, and cell phones. Notably, officers discovered 107 individually wrapped baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine concealed within the door panels of the vehicles, highlighting the network's methods for transporting illicit substances.
