Cali Begins September’s First Weekend With Seven Homicides and 57 Arrests

Cali recorded seven homicides over the first weekend of September, underscoring the violence that continues to trouble the city despite a police offensive against theft gangs and other criminal structures.

The killings occurred between Friday, Sept. 4, and Sunday, Sept. 6, in the neighborhoods of Vipasa, Puertas del Sol, Jorge Zawadzky, Fonaviencali and Alto Nápoles. Police arrested 57 people during the weekend, including 49 caught in the act and eight taken into custody under court orders.
