Cameroon: MP3 leader concludes northern region tour

Hiram Samuel Iyodi, the national president of the Patriotic Movement for the Prosperity of the People (MP3), has completed a five-day tour of Cameroon's northern regions, known as the Septentrion. The tour, which began in the Far North region on August 13, covered major cities including Maroua, Garoua, and Ngaoundere.

The primary objective of the tour was to engage directly with local populations, understand their grassroots realities, and reinforce the MP3 party's territorial base. Iyodi and his delegation met with residents in each location, listening to their concerns and introducing the party's platform. A symbolic reforestation action was also carried out, addressing environmental issues pertinent to the region's hot climate.

During the tour, the MP3 also focused on organizational strengthening by installing departmental coordinators in various federations. Iyodi personally appointed party officials in the Benoué, Mayo-Louti, and Mayo-Rey areas of the North region, as well as in the Diamaré, Mayo-Kani, Mayo-Danay, and Mayo-Sava areas of the Far North region, and in Adamaoua. He tasked these new leaders with the mission to "organize, structure, and grow the MP3 as close to the people as possible."

With the 2027 municipal and legislative elections on the horizon, Iyodi's tour is seen as a significant pre-campaign effort. The MP3 aims to mobilize voters and prepare them to support the party's candidates in the upcoming elections. Iyodi had previously visited this region during the 2025 presidential election campaign.
