Cameroon's Cabral Libii Honored with Officer of the Order of the Pléiade

Cabral Libii, a Member of Parliament and secretary in the bureau of the National Assembly of Cameroon, has been elevated to the rank of Officer of the Order of the Pléiade. The distinction, awarded by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), recognizes his significant contributions to the promotion of Francophone ideals and intercultural dialogue.

The ceremony took place in Yaoundé on July 8, 2026, on the sidelines of the APF's parliamentary assembly meetings. The Order of the Francophonie and Dialogue of Cultures, as the award is known, celebrates individuals committed to fostering unity, collaboration among nations, and the values that define the Francophone community. Libii's recognition also highlights his engagement in public life and his role in strengthening republican and democratic values.

Upon receiving the insignia, Libii expressed profound gratitude, viewing the honor not merely as a career milestone but as a call to continued service. "I receive the prestigious insignia of the Officer of the Order of the Pléiade with deep gratitude and directed towards the distinguished men who decided to count me among them, and especially towards the Eternal who elevates," he stated. "I see in it less the consecration of a journey than the reminder of a requirement, that of serving by making the diversity of intelligence and the dialogue of peoples the leavens of the prosperity of democracy."

The Order of the Pléiade is an international distinction honoring eminent personalities who serve the ideals of the Francophonie. Libii's induction places him among esteemed figures such as former presidents Habib Bourguiba of Tunisia, Léopold Sédar Senghor of Senegal, Houphouët-Boigny of Côte d'Ivoire, and Jacques Chirac of France, all recognized for their impactful roles in the decolonization of Africa and the development of the Francophone world.
