Camron Jones to play Tupac Shakur in Snoop Dogg biopic

Actor Camron Jones is set to embody the iconic Tupac Shakur in the forthcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, a project helmed by director Craig Brewer. The film, which aims to capture the essence of West Coast hip-hop's golden era, promises a deep dive into the lives and intertwined destinies of two of rap's most influential figures.

Jones joins a cast that already includes Jonathan Daviss, known for his role in 'Outer Banks,' who will portray Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., the real name of Snoop Dogg. The ensemble also features Myles Bullock Be as Dr. Dre and Lauren London as Snoop's mother, rounding out a cast poised to bring a pivotal moment in music history to life.

The biopic is expected to trace Snoop Dogg's journey from Long Beach, California, to becoming a leading figure in 90s gangsta rap. Central to the narrative will be his close friendship and professional collaboration with Tupac Shakur, both signed to Death Row Records. Their partnership yielded classic tracks like '2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted' and 'All About U.'

However, the film will also explore the strain that developed in their relationship in 1996. Shakur reportedly felt betrayed by Snoop's comments in a radio interview where he expressed respect for East Coast artists, who were rivals of Death Row Records at the time. Tragically, the two never reconciled before Shakur's untimely death in September of that year, when he was killed in a Las Vegas shooting.
