Candidate proposes 'Magong City 9 Villages Citizen Service Center' to improve old town spaces

Independent candidate for Penghu County Magistrate, Hsu Chih-fu, has proposed a new policy to create a "Magong City 9 Villages Citizen Service Center." This initiative aims to address the lack of adequate public activity spaces in the densely populated old town areas of Magong.

The proposed center would be a four-story building constructed on the Mingyuan Road parking lot site, provided it complies with urban planning and relevant regulations. Hsu envisions this center as a hub that integrates administrative, community, cultural, and welfare services for the nine villages: Fuxing, Chang'an, Zhongyang, Zhongxing, Chongqing, Qiming, Guangming, Guangfu, and Yangming.

Plans for the center include a citizen service hall, multi-functional activity space, and a dining area for seniors on the first floor. The second floor would house the offices for the nine village administrations, offering local government services. The third floor is designated for the offices of nine community development associations and multi-functional classrooms. A large auditorium for meetings, cultural events, lectures, and community activities is planned for the fourth floor.

Hsu emphasized that the center would be jointly managed and used by the nine villages, establishing a fair and transparent usage system. This approach, he believes, will maximize the public benefit of limited land resources, solve the problem of scarce and expensive land in the old town, and provide residents with a comfortable shared activity space. He argued that consolidating resources into one comprehensive center is more efficient than dispersing funds to build multiple small activity centers.
