CAPT extends deadline for PAFN headquarters bids to Sept. 27

The deadline for bids on the planned headquarters of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has been extended by nearly a month, giving prospective contractors until Sept. 27 to submit proposals.

The Central Agency for Public Tenders said the tender covers the study, design and supervision of the headquarters’ construction. The project forms part of the ministry’s contracts plan for the current fiscal year. A separate construction tender will be issued after the current process is completed.

The proposed complex is designed to include a building for employees of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate Inspection Department, along with a theater, library, sports fields and activity building, mosque, sample cold-storage facilities and a mobile vehicle inspection area. Aboveground and underground parking would accommodate 1,750 vehicles.

CAPT also agreed to extend by 15 days the technical study period for two tenders to remove sand from highways in Kuwait’s northern and southern areas. The project is intended to preserve highway efficiency, improve traffic safety and protect property and lives from sand accumulation.

Separately, the Central Agency for Information Technology returned the Paperless Government contract to the State Audit Bureau for a third review. The bureau had previously returned the documents on June 25 and Aug. 11 for comments to be addressed. CAPT approved awarding the contract to the bidder that met the technical requirements, at a cost of KD9.992 million and with a three-year implementation period. CAIT is awaiting the bureau’s approval before signing and starting the project, which aims to digitize government operations and services.
