Carabelli eliminated in Estoril Open first round

Argentine tennis player Camilo Ugo Carabelli was eliminated from the Estoril Open after a first-round defeat against France's Titouan Droguet. Carabelli, ranked 69th in the ATP rankings, lost a hard-fought match 2-1 (6-0, 3-6, 6-4), with early-set errors proving costly.

In contrast, Spain's Pedro Martinez, ranked 159th, had a more successful start to the main draw. He defeated Portugal's Henrique Rocha 2-0 (7-5, 7-5) to secure a spot in the round of 16 of the clay-court tournament. Martinez had previously advanced through the preliminary rounds, eliminating his compatriot David Jordá Sanchís.

The doubles competition also saw success for South American players. The Ecuadorian-Chilean duo of Diego Hidalgo and Alejandro Tabilo secured their place in the quarterfinals by defeating Ji Sung Nam and Takeru Yuzuki 2-0 (6-3, 7-5).

Meanwhile, Alejandro Tabilo, the world number 30 and a top seed in the singles, learned his next opponent will be Portugal's Tiago Torres, who beat Nikoloz Basilashvili. The Estoril Open, now back to ATP 250 status, continues until July 26.
