Caracas Archdiocese Calls for Mass for Earthquake Victims and Injured

As the one-month anniversary of the earthquakes that struck Venezuela approaches, the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Caracas has invited the public to a special mass. The service, scheduled for Friday, aims to honor those who lost their lives, support the healing of the injured, and offer solace to affected families.

The mass will take place at the Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Chiquinquirá in La Florida at 10:30 a.m. Under the theme "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted," the prayer gathering seeks to renew faith and strengthen the spirit of solidarity among attendees. This comes amidst a deeply challenging period for families who lost loved ones and those displaced from their homes by the powerful tremors on June 24.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the Archdiocese of Caracas expressed solidarity: "As we mark one month since the double earthquake that shook Caracas and La Guaira, we unite as one community to pray for the eternal rest of the victims, the healing of the injured, and the comfort of all affected families. In the midst of hardship, faith and solidarity sustain us and drive us forward."

According to official reports, the tragedy resulted in 5,346 fatalities and 16,740 injuries. The upcoming mass serves as a communal moment of remembrance, spiritual support, and a reaffirmation of resilience in the face of devastation.
