Venezuela opens 15 registration points for earthquake-affected families

Venezuelan authorities have established 15 unique registration points across the state of La Guaira to survey families impacted by earthquakes that struck on June 24. Governor José Alejandro Terán announced the initiative, which is already operational in shelters and camps.

The primary goal of the registration is to organize the distribution of humanitarian aid and to coordinate housing plans for those affected. Key registration locations include bowling alleys, McDonald's parking lots, golf courses, and public squares in Catia La Mar and Soublette, with family heads needing only their identity card to register.

The registration process is prioritizing communities most severely hit, such as Mare Abajo, where approximately 1,600 homes sustained damage. Meanwhile, 28 temporary camps continue to house over 12,000 people receiving direct humanitarian assistance.

Structural inspections have assessed over 24,000 homes, certifying those with a "green light" as safe for residents to gradually return. Nationally, the earthquakes have caused 5,278 deaths, with 16,740 injured and 6,462 rescued. The state has provided comprehensive support to 128,324 affected families, while 17,907 remain without housing.
