Cáritas Panamá Collects Over $93,000 to Aid Families Affected by Venezuela Earthquakes

Cáritas Panamá has successfully channeled more than $93,000 in donations to support families impacted by emergencies in Venezuela. As of July 31, the organization reported that these funds are designated to bolster the humanitarian response led by the Catholic Church for vulnerable communities.

Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa, president of Cáritas Panamá, expressed gratitude for the widespread support from parishes, dioceses, communities, ecclesial movements, organizations, and individuals. "On behalf of the Church in Panama, we want to thank the generosity of the Panamanian people for their solidarity with Venezuela," Ulloa stated. He emphasized the collective effort that made this "gesture of fraternity" possible.

Maribel Jaén, director of Cáritas Panamá's Social Pastoral, explained that the funds will be directly administered by Cáritas Venezuela through established oversight mechanisms within the international Cáritas network. "There is a specialized team that guarantees a transparent, responsible, and professional use of each contribution received," Jaén assured.

Despite Panama's own economic challenges, Jaén noted that the public's response demonstrated the nation's commitment to regional solidarity. "The response has been a true expression of love.
