CDMX Government Delivers Electrical Rehabilitation Works at La Merced Market; 40 Million Pesos Invested

The capital's administration has delivered the results of rehabilitation work on the electrical system at the La Merced Market, located in the Venustiano Carranza borough. This project involved an investment of 40 million pesos.

Upon delivering the completed works, the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, emphasized that this initiative is "preventive." Its primary goal is to guarantee the safety and ensure the proper functioning of the market's electrical system. Brugada highlighted that the system was operating at a very low capacity, posing a significant risk to the market and its vendors.

Raúl Basulto Luviano, Secretary of Works and Services (Sobse), detailed the scope of the work in the market's minor nave. The project included the acquisition and installation of a new electrical transformer and 39 additional distribution panels to ensure adequate load distribution among the commercial stalls. Furthermore, lighting fixtures, outlets, and switches were renovated. These upgrades were primarily carried out during nighttime hours to minimize disruption to the market's operations.

Before commencing the rehabilitation, a census was conducted among the market's 635 vendors to assess the energy consumption of each establishment. This data was crucial for developing an electrical project tailored to the specific needs of the market. The investment aims to modernize the infrastructure, enhance safety, and support the daily commercial activities within one of Mexico City's most significant marketplaces.
