CDU youth in Brandenburg to discuss government reforms after resignation

The Junge Union (JU), the youth organization of the CDU party in Brandenburg, is set to convene in Potsdam for a state-level meeting. The gathering will focus on discussing and scrutinizing the reform plans proposed by the federal government.

This meeting takes place just weeks after the resignation of the previous JU state chairwoman, Laura Strohschneider. Strohschneider stepped down at the end of July, citing criticism of the leadership and the federal government's overall direction. She also announced her departure from the CDU party.

The agenda for the Brandenburg-Tag includes a significant motion titled "Gut gedacht. Gut gemacht? Reformen auf den Prüfstand" (Well Intended. Well Done? Reforms Under Scrutiny.). According to interim state chairman Carlo Wittich, the purpose of this motion is to gauge the sentiment of the JU members regarding the government's reform initiatives.

While the meeting is expected to draw between 40 to 50 members of the CDU's youth organization, new elections for the state leadership are not on the agenda. The CDU's Interior Minister, Jan Redmann, is also expected to attend the event. The discussions are anticipated to reflect the internal party discourse surrounding the current government's policies and their reception among the younger generation of CDU politicians.
