Celebrations over CTJ’s killing of bandit leader Sani Yellow in Zamfara

Residents of Zamfara State are celebrating the death of Kachalla Sani Yellow, a prominent bandit leader, who was killed by a combined force of the Civilian Joint Task Force, known as Askarawan Zamfara, and local hunters. The confrontation occurred in the Anka Local Government Area during an exchange of fire as the bandits attempted to repel an attack.

Kachalla Sani Yellow was a significant figure among bandit commanders, terrorizing communities and highways across Anka, Bukkuyum, and Maru local government areas. His influence extended throughout the northwest region of Nigeria, where he was responsible for numerous deadly invasions, kidnappings, cattle rustling, and widespread sexual violence.

The Zamfara State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the killing. Abubakar stated that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are intensifying efforts to rid Zamfara State of banditry. The criminal was identified as the mastermind behind many of the region's most severe security challenges.
