Central Java governor visits Mozza murder victim’s family and vows to see case through

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi visited the family of Mozza Axillia Gunarsa, 18, in Bergas, Semarang Regency, offering condolences after the case that began with her disappearance was revealed as a suspected murder.

Luthfi told Mozza’s parents, Singgih Datya Gunarsa and Defita Riana, that he hoped they and their other child would find strength. He said the case should serve as an important lesson for parents, children and law-enforcement authorities.

Mozza had been reported missing since June 2025. After an investigation, Semarang City Police identified a 22-year-old man, MDVS, from Blora Regency, who was known to be a close friend of the victim. Authorities said his arrest revealed that Mozza’s body had been discarded near a toll road in Semarang about a year earlier.

Her father asked Luthfi to help coordinate with the police and prosecutors. "I hope for true justice for our daughter, and I hope there will be no leniency for the suspect," Singgih said.
