Cerkno secures funding for new sports park, opening in July

The municipality of Cerkno has successfully obtained 85,000 euros in non-repayable funds from the Fund for Sport to establish a new sports park. This significant grant was awarded after Cerkno's project was selected from 150 applications submitted nationwide.

Officials from the Fund for Sport lauded the Cerkno project as "content-wise high-quality, socially beneficial, and accessible to a wide range of users." The municipality confirmed that construction is in its final stages, with an official opening scheduled for July 24 as part of the 'Summer in Cerkno' event.

This investment is considered one of the largest, and notably one of the few, sports-related capital projects in the municipality in recent years. The new park is designed to offer contemporary facilities catering to both recreational and organized sports, alongside school-related activities and various sporting events.

The municipality anticipates that the sports park will play a crucial role in promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among its citizens and will foster the further development of sports within Cerkno. This initiative builds upon previous funding, as the municipality had already secured 250,000 euros from the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport for the same project.
