Cerro Porteño Confirms Midfielder Derlis Rodríguez's Return

Cerro Porteño has officially welcomed back midfielder Derlis Rodríguez, who was on loan at Guaraní and has become a key player in coach Ariel Holan's starting lineup. The club announced the return of the 28-year-old attacking midfielder, who will be embarking on his second stint with the "Ciclón."

Rodríguez joined Cerro Porteño in mid-2024 after a strong performance with Tacuary. He previously played for Libertad and Deportivo Santaní. During his first period with the club, he made 35 appearances and scored two goals. Upon confirming his return to the "club of the people," Rodríguez posted a farewell message to Guaraní, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and wishing the club success.

In addition to Rodríguez, other new additions to Ariel Holan's squad include Agustín Almendra, Lucas Merolla, Alexis Cañete, Iván Ramírez, Ariel Gamarra, Manuel Roffo, and Ángel Martínez. The Clausura 2026 championship is set to kick off this Friday, with Cerro Porteño scheduled to play their opening match against Sportivo Trinidense at La Nueva Olla stadium.
