César Caicedo's provisional detention confirmed after appeal

A court has upheld the provisional detention of César Caicedo, who faces charges related to drug offenses within the "Operation Nodriza" investigation. The Superior Court of Appeals confirmed the measure, rejecting an appeal against the initial ruling.

Caicedo is accused of links to drug trafficking, an investigation that has led authorities to dismantle a criminal organization suspected of dealing in illicit substances. The court's decision means Caicedo will remain in custody while the investigation progresses.

While the court decided to maintain the provisional detention, Caicedo will not immediately be transferred to a penitentiary. He is currently hospitalized and will remain under medical care for 30 days. Following this period, he will be moved to a correctional facility to serve the detention measure.

The "Operation Nodriza" involves specialized drug crime prosecutors and the National Police's intelligence directorate. The court's decision to maintain the most severe measure requested by the prosecution underscores the ongoing efforts to investigate the alleged drug trafficking structure.
