Changes to driving test rules. Ministry wants to introduce a new ban for candidates

Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure is planning significant changes to the process of obtaining a driver's license, aiming to reform both training and examination procedures. While details are still under discussion, key proposed modifications focus on the validity of theoretical test results and the frequency of practical exams.

Under the proposed regulations, the result of the theoretical part of the driver's license exam will have a validity period of 24 months from the date it is obtained. Additionally, candidates will be prohibited from taking the practical exam more than once on the same day. These measures are part of a broader effort to modernize the licensing system.

The draft law provides, among other things, for the introduction of a validity period for the theoretical exam result for 24 months from the date of its obtaining and a ban on another attempt at the practical exam on the same day.

The ministry is currently engaged in inter-ministerial consultations and public discussions to finalize the new rules. Previously, there were considerations for mandatory retraining after three failed practical exams, requiring candidates to attend at least five hours of additional training at a driving school, culminating in an internal exam. However, the current proposal does not include a time limit for the validity of completed training courses at driving schools.
