Changhua Fishing Port offshore wind maintenance wharf opens, Taipower leases berths

After facing criticism from the Control Yuan, the maintenance wharf at Changhua Fishing Port for offshore wind power operations has officially opened. This long-awaited facility has already secured tenants, with Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) leasing two berths to dock its vessels.

Taipower's commitment to the port involves an annual rent of NT$7.15 million for each of the two berths it occupies. The wharf is equipped with a total of 10 berths, indicating significant potential for revenue generation. If all berths are leased, the county government could see an annual income of NT$71.5 million.

The opening of the wharf is a crucial development for the offshore wind industry in Taiwan, providing essential infrastructure for the maintenance and operation of wind farms. The successful leasing of berths to Taipower underscores the facility's importance and its role in supporting the nation's renewable energy goals. The revenue generated will also contribute to the local economy.
