Changhua's 'Guo-gou-zai' community wins national anti-violence drama competition

Changhua City's Zhongquan Community, affectionately known as 'Guo-gou-zai,' has achieved national recognition by winning first place in a gender-based violence prevention drama competition organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The community's team emerged victorious among 61 participating teams, securing a prize of 120,000 New Taiwan Dollars.

Community residents, under the guidance of the community development association, have long been active in promoting social welfare initiatives, including care centers and time banks, and have earned a 'two purple ribbons' certification for their efforts in preventing violence. The winning drama, self-written and performed by volunteers, effectively conveyed messages about gender-based violence prevention, impressing the judges with its skillful execution and genuine emotion.

Local officials, including Vice Speaker of the Changhua County Council Xu Yuan-long and Director of the Social Affairs Department Wang Lan-xin, celebrated the community's achievement. They praised the residents for their dedication to managing the community as if it were their own home, sowing seeds of harmony, and making the victory a shared honor. The win is seen not only as a success in raising grassroots awareness about violence prevention but also as a model for other communities.
