Chania: Boy, 2, underwater in pool for 2 minutes; doctor mother's desperate effort to revive him

A two-year-old German boy was pulled from a swimming pool in Kavros, Apokoronas, Chania, Crete, after being found at the bottom of the pool without consciousness. The child had reportedly been missing from his parents' attention for an unclear amount of time before being discovered.

According to local reports, the boy remained submerged for about two to three minutes before being found. His mother, who is a doctor, immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fighting for approximately five minutes to revive him. Her efforts were successful, and the child regained signs of life before the arrival of EKAV (National Center for Emergency Care) rescuers.

Rescuers continued stabilization efforts at the scene before transporting the child to Rethymno Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, doctors decided to intubate him and transferred him to the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI). He is currently in critical condition, with doctors closely monitoring his reduced level of consciousness.

Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the accident to determine how the child ended up in the pool. The family and medical staff are anxiously awaiting developments in the child's health, hoping for a positive outcome.
