Charitable Donations: Companies Can Also Deduct Bottle Deposits on Donated Drinks

Companies that donate drinks to charitable causes may also deduct the bottle deposits from their taxable income, according to an interpretation by the director of Poland’s National Revenue Information.

The interpretation followed an inquiry from a trading company that sells industrial and food products through ordinary shops and online. The company supports various charitable campaigns and usually contributes goods to them.

The ruling confirms that the value of a donation can include the deposit paid for the bottles. That amount can then be included in the deduction from income, reducing the company’s tax burden.
