'Checo' Pérez: 'Now we focus on Sunday'

Sergio Pérez will start the Hungarian Grand Prix from 22nd on the grid after a demanding qualifying session at the Hungaroring. The Mexican driver, competing for Cadillac, acknowledged that the team lost significant track time during the final practice session, leading to a rushed approach for qualifying.

It was a very demanding session after losing practically all of the third (and final) free practice, so everything was quite rushed with a view to qualifying.

"The car didn't feel as we expected, especially in the high-speed sections, so we need to understand what affected us," Pérez stated. The 36-year-old driver from Guadalajara, who has six wins and 39 podiums in Formula One, returned to the sport this season after a year away.

Pérez, the 2023 World Championship runner-up with Red Bull, expressed confidence that the car possesses untapped performance. "We know there's more performance in the car, so now we are focused on being in a stronger position for tomorrow," he said.
