Chelsea sets deadline for Man City to sign Fernandez for 120 million pounds

Chelsea has issued an ultimatum to Manchester City, demanding the club finalize the 120 million pound (approximately $150 million) transfer of Argentine World Cup star Enzo Fernandez by the end of the day. Should Manchester City fail to meet this deadline, Fernandez will remain at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea has reportedly informed City of their firm stance, establishing a clear cutoff for the potential acquisition of the 25-year-old midfielder. Fernandez has openly expressed his desire to leave Chelsea since March, and has also been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid. New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso wishes for Fernandez to stay, though the club's management is exploring alternatives should the transfer proceed.

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca, who previously managed Chelsea, is reportedly interested in signing Fernandez to replace Rodri, should the Spanish midfielder depart the Etihad. While Rodri is rumored to be keen on joining Barcelona, City has already rejected an initial offer of 55 million pounds from the Catalan club. City values Rodri at 70 million pounds, but speculation suggests they might negotiate if an offer exceeds 60 million pounds. This situation could benefit Barcelona in negotiations and might compel City to act swiftly in securing Rodri's replacement.

Chelsea, however, shows no sign of lowering Fernandez's price tag, insisting the player will only be released if their 120 million pound demand is met before the set deadline. Failure by City to reach an agreement by 5 p.m. tomorrow will result in Fernandez staying with Chelsea. Fernandez had previously criticized Chelsea's decision to sack Maresca in an interview during his international duty in March. Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is among the players linked as a potential replacement for Fernandez, with a previous offer of 64 million pounds reportedly rejected.
