Chen Hsing-yu Accuses Ex-Husband Chao Chien-ming of Affair with Clinic Nurse

Chen Hsing-yu, a dentist and daughter of former President Chen Shui-bian, publicly accused her ex-husband, Dr. Chao Chien-ming, of an inappropriate relationship with a nurse at his orthopedic clinic. Chen posted a one-star review on the clinic's page, alleging a "messy entanglement" between Chao and a Ms. Hsu, a nurse employed there.

Further details about Ms. Hsu's prominent role emerged from a June criminal court ruling in Tainan. The case involved a male patient who allegedly defrauded the clinic of over NT$40,000 in medical fees. Chao had appointed Ms. Hsu to act as his legal representative in pursuing the charges against the patient.

The ruling detailed how the patient, surnamed Chao (originally Chen), visited the clinic in April 2025. He falsely claimed to be a neighbor of Dr. Chao and to run overseas companies, promising to have his secretary wire the payment. Dr. Chao, believing the story, treated the patient. Ms. Hsu then used LINE to urge the patient to make the payment, but he sent a fake remittance slip, never actually paying the bill.

When the patient continued to delay payment, Dr. Chao entrusted Ms. Hsu to file a police report and act as his representative throughout the legal proceedings. She appeared on his behalf during police interrogations and court hearings. The court found the patient guilty of fraud, sentencing him to five months in prison, with the option of a fine, and ordered the confiscation of the defrauded amount.
