Chiayi City's YouZhong Park to Undergo Major NT$40 Million Renovation

Chiayi City is set to significantly upgrade YouZhong Park with a comprehensive renovation project costing around NT$40 million. The initiative, managed by the city's Construction Bureau, aims to revitalize the park's amenities and surrounding environment, enhancing its role as a vital green space and cultural hub.

The planned improvements include a complete overhaul of park facilities, encompassing restrooms, accessible walking paths spanning approximately 2,500 square meters, and updated playground and fitness equipment. The project also addresses surrounding infrastructure by incorporating recessed parking spaces for 37 cars and motorcycles, balancing functionality with pedestrian comfort.

The overall improvement plan for YouZhong Park will focus on enhancing the quality of the landscape and perfecting public service functions.

Construction Bureau Director Luo Zi-zheng highlighted that the renovation prioritizes the needs of local residents by reorganizing spaces, optimizing the landscape, and integrating pathways. The project seeks to elevate the park's aesthetic appeal, ecological environment, and overall comfort, creating a public space that better serves the daily recreational needs of the community.

This upgrade is part of Chiayi City's broader "Cultural New Silk Road 2.0" initiative, specifically the "Dual Parks Project." YouZhong Park, along with the adjacent Fanzigou Park, serves as a key gateway to the western district of Chiayi City. Once the railway elevated project is completed, these parks will play a crucial role in connecting the city's cultural sites, green spaces, and tourist attractions, further solidifying their importance as nodes in the city's developing green corridor.
