Chief Justice’s public visits not improper, but “past eight years” remark could be political, Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference says

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference has defended Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie’s visits to public institutions, saying there was nothing improper about inspecting them and commending improvements in their operations.

The Conference nevertheless raised concern about the political interpretation of some of his recent remarks. It pointed specifically to comments made during visits, including one to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.

According to the Conference, the Chief Justice’s reference to the “past eight years” could be seen as political, even though the visits themselves were not considered improper.
