Children's Day 2026: Paraguay gears up for weekend of shows and activities

Paraguay is set to celebrate Children's Day on August 16 with a weekend packed with diverse events and activities designed for children to play, learn, and enjoy. The festivities aim to provide unforgettable moments for the country's youth.

The Teatro Latino will host the play "El Reino de Pixel," written and directed by Erik Gehre. This theatrical production, suitable for children aged 5 to 12, merges theater, video games, and fantasy, with Pixel serving as an unpredictable host in a kingdom where nothing is as it seems. Performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 5:00 PM, with tickets available through Ticketea.

Plaza Herminio Giménez will transform into a hub of celebration on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM with free access. The event will feature a circus show by Magín Fullaondo, magic performances by Abracadante, and a screening of "The Flintstones" episodes using vintage projectors, presented by the Paraguayan German Cultural Institute (ICPA) and the Lexa collective. Additionally, there will be games organized by Chili Lab and an art experience titled "The City Seen by Children" by Amelí Schneider. Organizers have noted that the festivities will be ongoing throughout the day, with raffles and food options available.

The Museo de Ciencias (MuCi) is offering an "Exoplanet Explorers" activity on Sunday in the outdoor spaces of the Textilia complex. This experience combines science, creativity, and imagination, challenging children to build a rocket and explore a distant world. The activity will run in two one-hour sessions at 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM, with tickets priced at G. 35,000, purchasable on the MuCi website.

Adding to the weekend's offerings, Feria Palmear will host a special edition on Saturday starting at 11:00 AM, featuring various activities and games within the historic center of Asunción, with free admission.
