China aims to expand cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, says Xi Jinping

Chinese President Xi Jinping has articulated China's commitment to deepening ties with Kyrgyzstan, signaling an intent to broaden cooperation across multiple strategic sectors. In an article published by the Chinese Foreign Ministry ahead of his state visit, Xi outlined his vision for the future development of bilateral relations.

The Chinese leader emphasized that Beijing aims to enhance collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure, green minerals, the digital economy, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. Xi expressed his anticipation of working with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to chart a "new grand plan" for Chinese-Kyrgyz relations.

Xi congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its 35th anniversary of independence, acknowledging the country's political stability, economic progress, and social harmony. He noted the evolution of relations from good-neighborly ties to a strategic and comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era. The article referenced agreements made during Japarov's visit to China in February 2025, which led to the announcement of a "community of common destiny between China and Kyrgyzstan."

He observed that Chinese smartphones and electric vehicles have become popular among Kyrgyz consumers, while high-quality agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan are increasingly entering the Chinese market. Xi sees the "Belt and Road" initiative as a key framework for future economic cooperation, advocating for high-quality interaction as a primary long-term focus.

The Chinese president specifically proposed advancing cooperation in the digital economy, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. This strategic push underscores China's ambition to strengthen its economic and technological influence in Central Asia through enhanced partnerships.
