China Issues Flood and Landslide Warnings as Typhoon Dolphin Approaches

China's eastern coast is bracing for Typhoon Dolphin, which is expected to make landfall with strong winds and heavy rainfall. Authorities have issued urgent warnings for potential floods and landslides as the storm approaches.

Forecasters predict the typhoon will reach the coast in the evening, bringing winds up to 162 kilometers per hour. Parts of Zhejiang province could see between 250 and 500 millimeters of rain. In response to the threat, over a million people have been evacuated from vulnerable areas. Shanghai has evacuated at least 30,300 residents and canceled approximately 1,500 flights.

The typhoon has already impacted Japan's Okinawa, where six people were injured and over 50,000 homes lost power. Chinese authorities are intensifying checks on dams, mountain streams, and landslide-prone zones. Some ferry services and offshore operations have been suspended.

Meteorologists are concerned that the typhoon's slower movement after landfall could prolong heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of widespread flooding and landslides.
