China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway’s highest bridge to be built in Suzak

The highest bridge on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is rising over the Koch-Alat River in Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad region, according to the Uzbek Transport Ministry’s press service.

The bridge will stretch 956.67 meters across Suzak district. Its highest pier will reach 96 meters, while the full height of the structure will reach 122 meters. Officials said it will be the highest bridge along the entire railway route and one of the largest engineering structures on the new line.

Foundation work has been completed. Construction crews are continuing to erect the bridge’s piers and supports. The ministry described such construction as one of the technically most difficult stages of the railway project, which must cross areas with challenging terrain.

The railway’s construction officially began in December 2024. The Kyrgyz section is planned to run along the Torugart-Makmal-Jalal-Abad route and connect the railway networks of China and Uzbekistan.
