China’s Xi Jinping congratulates Kyrgyzstan on Independence Day

Chinese President Xi Jinping used Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day to praise the country’s development and call for closer cooperation between the two neighbors.

In a message to President Sadyr Japarov and the Kyrgyz people, Xi said Kyrgyzstan had achieved “outstanding successes in state-building” over the past 35 years, including during more than five years under Japarov’s leadership. He described China as a friendly neighbor and a comprehensive strategic partner in the new era.

Over the past 35 years, in particular during more than five years of your leadership, the Kyrgyz Republic has achieved outstanding successes in state-building.

Xi said he attached importance to China-Kyrgyzstan relations and noted that he and Japarov had met three times the previous year. He said they had exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation and set out a new plan for their development.

As a friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner in the new era, the Chinese side sincerely rejoices in these achievements.

The Chinese leader said he was ready to work with Japarov to build a community with a shared future from a higher starting point and for the benefit of both countries’ peoples. He also wished Kyrgyzstan prosperity and its people happiness and well-being.

Xi was in Kyrgyzstan on a state visit. His schedule also included participation in a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit and the opening of the sixth World Nomad Games.
