China sends 15 aircraft and 6 warships to Taiwan region; 9 warplanes cross median line

China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted a significant show of force around Taiwan, deploying 15 aircraft and 6 warships in the vicinity over a 24-hour period. The military activity, monitored by Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense, involved extensive incursions into Taiwan's air defense identification zone.

Specifically, nine PLA warplanes crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, a de facto boundary between mainland China and Taiwan. These aircraft entered Taiwan's southwestern airspace between 8:15 a.m. on May 27 and 8:30 p.m. the same day. Additionally, one helicopter crossed the median line and operated in Taiwan's central airspace between 5:55 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on May 27.

In parallel with the air incursions, six PLA warships were detected operating in waters surrounding Taiwan. The Ministry of National Defense stated that Taiwan's armed forces utilized their own aircraft, naval vessels, and shore-based missile systems to maintain close surveillance and respond to the PLA's activities. The ministry emphasized its readiness to defend Taiwan's airspace and territorial integrity.
