China Sends 33 Aircraft, Vessels to Taiwan; Defense Ministry Cites Regional Instability

On the anniversary of our President's inauguration, the People's Liberation Army has once again escalated its military provocations in the Taiwan Strait. The Ministry of National Defense has confirmed that from May 19 to May 20, a significant number of Chinese aircraft, warships, and patrol vessels entered our surrounding airspace and waters. Notably, 13 Chinese military aircraft crossed the median line, a clear violation of our territorial integrity and a blatant disregard for regional stability.

This aggressive posturing, including what China unilaterally calls 'joint combat readiness patrols,' is precisely what undermines peace and stability in the region. The Ministry of National Defense has unequivocally stated that these threats and provocations are the sole factor disrupting the status quo. Our armed forces are committed to defending Taiwan and maintaining the current state of affairs. We are employing all available intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets to closely monitor the PLA's movements and are prepared to deploy aircraft, naval vessels, and shore-based missile systems to respond appropriately.
