The Dr. Gustavo Nelson Collado Hospital in Chitré has restored its medical services after a week-long disruption caused by a malfunctioning air conditioning system. The hospital administration confirmed that the cooling equipment is now operational across most departments, with the administrative area still undergoing repairs.

Medical Director Dr. Avelino Escobar announced the formal resumption of services, emphasizing the plan to address the backlog of appointments and surgeries. "We are resuming the services we had suspended," Dr. Escobar stated. "Both elective surgeries and specialized outpatient appointments are resuming today, Tuesday, August 25."

The technical failure led to the suspension of over 500 specialized outpatient appointments and approximately 100 surgical procedures. To manage the accumulated demand, the hospital will implement a recovery plan. "A recovery plan for appointments and surgeries that were lost will be created," Dr. Escobar explained. "Patients will be called to inform them of the days they need to come in to reschedule their appointments and surgical procedures."

The hospital aims to reprogram all pending medical appointments and procedures by the end of the current year. Patients will be contacted gradually to facilitate the rescheduling process.
