Chivas Receive European Offer for Piojo Alvarado

Spartak Moscow has entered the race for Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado with an offer of about $8 million, according to Gibrán Araige of TUDN. Chivas, however, reportedly rejected the bid as too low and does not want to sell the Mexican attacker.

Alvarado has emerged as one of Guadalajara’s most important players at the start of the season. The midfielder has also carried strong form over from his performances with Mexico at the World Cup, establishing himself as a central creative figure for the red-and-white side.

Most European transfer markets have already closed, but Russia’s remains open until Sept. 10. Spartak could therefore increase its offer if it wants to try to persuade Chivas and the player.

Alvarado, who came through the Toros de Celaya system, was previously strongly linked with a move to Brazil’s Flamengo. He chose to remain with Chivas rather than join the South American club.

Reports of the Russian offer have already unsettled Chivas supporters, who have taken to social media to express fears that the club could lose one of its best players.
